Tru64 UNIX and Virtual Systems

Development and support of Tru64 UNIX was dropped long ago by Hewlett-Packard (HP).  This operating system never made it to HP's Integrity server product, and all customers were supposed to move to HP-UX.  However, many features of Tru64, such as shared-everything clustering, aren't present in HP-UX.

These facts mean that your investment in software and licenses needs to be protected!  All hardware will fail, it's just a question of when.  By creating a virtual system, you can keep moving forward to the latest hardware and not have to change a thing.  And that new hardware means that your virtual system will keep getting faster as the newest hardware keeps getting faster.

The Charon-AXP product runs Tru64 UNIX, Ultrix, and OSF/1, creating the virtual system you need.

This product passes the hardware test suite to verify that it's an Alpha.  Some other things you need:

  • DEC/Compaq/HP software licenses can be transferred to the emulated system — your license investment is protected.
  • HP doesn't support Tru64 UNIX anymore, but Parsec (off page) does.

The Charon product successfully runs all Tru64 UNIX products, including third-party products.

Let us help you design and develop a faster, more reliable system using Alpha Emulation TODAY!

Documentation

It's essential to have some documentation to manage Tru64 UNIX. Here's a handy guide, comparing multiple Unix versions, including Solaris, Tru64 UNIX, and Linux (off page)

Books

Some of these books are available on Amazon, but some are elsewhere. They're almost $100 USD each, so buy used ones if possible.

Quayle Consulting provides full evaluation and migration support. We have emulation solutions for these legacy hardware platforms:
